Filed a bill prohibiting all junior operators from using any type of cell phone or text messaging device while driving. The language of the bill was included in “An Act
Relative to Safe Driving” which was
signed into law in 2010. |

Authored the new law that prohibits the sale or manufacture of dangerous “novelty lighters” in the Commonwealth.
Working closely with local firefighters, this law will prohibit the lighters that have been the cause of many dangerous and often deadly fires throughout our state. |

Worked to pass stricter child protection laws and fought for state funding for youth violence prevention programs. |

Education Reform Bill, the state’s largest and most comprehensive piece of education reform legislation since 1993. |

College satellite campus in Southbridge. |

Advocated for funds for the Dudley/Charlton and
Spencer/East Brookfield School Districts for our

Played a pivotal role in the Quinebaug Rail Trail project. |

Secured a $737,000 reimbursement for Southbridge for the purchase of the
Southbridge Community Center, the former armory in town. |

Worked with the Department of Environmental Protection to ensure funding for Charlton from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund. Charlton was awarded over $4.3 million to improve its water system. |
