Representative Geraldo Alicea announced today that he has secured $51,183 in reimbursements for the costs of the upcoming special primary and general election in the 6th Worcester district. Alicea secured the money in a sub-budget released today from the Massachusetts House Ways & Means committee.
“Securing this money for our communities to offset the costs of the special primary and general election has been a priority for me,” said Representative Geraldo Alicea. “This money will offset the estimated costs by the town clerks and will cover necessary expenses such as election workers, police officers and ballot machine programming.”
“I want to thank Ways & Means Chairman Brian Dempsey and House leadership for working with me to obtain this money for the 6th Worcester district,” said Alicea. “Given the realities of this economy, our communities are continually struggling with financial issues. I didn’t want the fact that this past election resulted in a historic tie-race to weigh on our district’s finances.”
